Permaculture at The Grange
Permaculture is a design system which takes its inspiration and guidance from the health and resilience of natural systems. Permaculture is practised today in nearly every country in the world and is being applied to everyone from gardens to farms to businesses to entire communities.
The Grange is a recognised by the Permaculture Association of Britain as a permaculture demonstration site - you can see the network of LAND (Learning and Network Demonstration) sites around the UK on their web site. At The Grange we are able to show permaculture in practice in our vegetable garden, young forest garden, animal systems and composting.
However, the ethics of permaculture which are Care for the Earth, Care for People and Care for the Future are at the heart of everything we do at The Grange. They inform the way we run the project, the way we integrate people into the family home, our finances and many other things. It is a very long journey to fully 'permaculturise' The Grange but it is a really exciting one and we are always looking for ways to do more.
We believe that permaculture offers a fantastic set of principles and tools that can offer anyone a guide to being the change they want to see in the world. Ben is a permaculture teacher and designer and is happy to talk to anyone interested in finding out more.
